Awarded to a junior-level Indiana college student planning a career in journalism. Named in honor of a former UPI statehouse reporter.

H.L. Stevenson Scholarship, Overseas Press Club Foundation
Named in honor of H.L. Stevenson, who rose through the ranks of United Press International from regional editor in the South to editor-in-chief in New York City, where he retired in the mid-1980s.

Frank H. Bartholomew Scholarship, University of California Davis
Granted to a graduate from Sonoma or Napa Valley high schools who attend University of California Davis to study enology, the art of wine making. Frank H. Bartholomew was not only a wine lover, he was also UPI's last reporter-president. He was President and Chairman of UPI from 1955 until 1972. He died in 1985.

Ameel J. Fisher Scholarship, University of North Carolina
A 1931 graduate of UNC, Fisher was a reporter and editor with United Press and from 1952 to 1976. He was a correspondent, writer and producer with UPI Television News.

Robert C. Miller Memorial Scholarship, Big Island Press Club
Robert C. Miller (1915-2004) was a UPI correspondent and former UPI Honolulu bureau chief. The Big Island Press Club scholarship program started when former Hawaii Legislator Doc Hill spontaneously donated money in 1968 after hearing an inspiring speech by Miller at a Press Club function.

Mary McAndrew Scholarship, Illinois News Broadcasters Association
Mary McAndrew had a long history in broadcasting, working at UPI in New York, AP in New Jersey and Connecticut, and for Mutual Broadcasting in New York before working at WBBM and WGCI in Chicago.

Norman D. Sandler Scholarship Fund, Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Awarded to a student from Iowa who can't afford MIT (just like Norman in 1971), or to a political science student if there is no Iowa applicant with financial need.
